Report on Initial activities - July and September 2011
At our July (2011) meeting, attended by about seven participants, we initiated our discussion of 'The Spirit Level' by Richard Wilkinson and Kate Pickett - which we finished at the group's September meeting. Individual comments and (perhaps) a group synthesis will be posted here - techical competecies allowing!).
At that meeting, we decided to use the 'talking stick' method to enable the discussion - something that we used again at our September (2011) we initiated discussion on our next two books 'Thomas Greco's 'The End of Money' and Owen Jones' 'CHAVS - The Demonisation of the Working Class'.
We aim to finish our discussions of these latter two books at the group's next meeting on Tuesday 15 November - when a possible next book (EP Schmacher's out-of-print book on Work) might be started.
